The Oscars Gift Lounge is 1 Week Away!

As some of you may know, Jewels For Hope will have their items in The 2012 Oscars Gift Lounge on Feb 24th and 25th. We cannot believe how fast this time has gone by. It feels like yesterday we were sitting at our kitchen table making 100 bracelets and packaging them up all pretty for the big event.

We made tons (and tons) of different bracelets, all color coded to match the organizations we donate to.

We absolutely love making these bracelets and really hope that the *celebs* love them too! We packaged them in the weirdest way- that if you missed my last post about this- you're in luck.. I have some shots here!

We made them in little smiley faces. Hoping to bring smiles to all the receive them. And we hoped that the head of The Artisan Group had a smile on her face when she opened up the box and saw 100 little smiley faces looking back at her!

With The Gift Lounge next week I am starting to get anxious. I really want to see what celebs will pass through the lounge, and which celeb will pose with our necklace that will be on display!

Love Etsy and Strange (Amazing) Gifts!

I’m super excited about this Valentine’s Day! I went a little outside the box on my gift to my soon to be hubby. I hope he finds these gifts as amazing as I think they are. Because really, I think they kick butt.

I ordered two things for him- along with the standard candy I plan on giving him.

I haven’t received either in yet, so I don’t have pictures. But don’t worry- I plan on taking a ton of pics and putting them up here, AFTER valentines day. Because I don’t want to ruin the surprise. (Not like he reads this blog, but still. You never know. Better safe than sorry).

I got him a Beer Soap Kit.

Yes. BEER. SOAP. I don’t know what man would not like this? (well, maybe one who doesn’t like beer… but that’s not the case here). I think that is perfect for the fiancé. It is a beer soap and a muscle healer… which is perfect because he is always in pain on his back (he was in a car accident before I met him and his back will always have pain).

Along with the beer soap, the only logical gift that fits with that is of course… A BACON SCENTED CANDLE.

HOW GREAT.

I am so excited about these gifts!! The bacon scented candle was ordered from one of my favorite candle makers of all time, Marcy- from PicsPetals & Scents. You should know about her by now since I continue to talk about her amazing creations. I was so happy she can do a bacon candle!! I emailed her last minute to whip up this candle for me! I cannot wait to get it in.
The best part about all of this amazing-ness……

Last night we were watching TV and I don’t know how it came up- but HE MENTIONED HOW COOL IT WOULD BE TO HAVE A BACON CANDLE.

Is that fate or what? It took all of my power not to start giggling and say “well, you’ll get one soon!”

Such a #Sweet #Handmade #Valentine's Day

We know Valentine's Day is coming up soon.

Personally, I'm not big on Valentine's Day... It doesn't matter to me if I get anything from my fiance... he gives me cute little surprises throughout the year- so this one day doesn't really mean that much to me (yes, I know - he is adorable and that line I wrote probably makes you want to puke haha. Sorry!)

But even though I personally don't need/want anything on this day- I love to give my sisters little gifts to say I love them!

This may sound corny- I know... but I love to surprise them. They're my baby sisters. Last year, Krista, (the middle sister) was feeling a bit "down" that she didn't have anyone to spend the day with. I surprised her with some cute little stuffed animal I placed in her car - then some candy and other little stuff. It made her day. She still keeps that stuffed animal in her car.

This year, I want to support handmade for my "Sister Valentines Gifts". You know, just something small to make the smile.

One of the fabulous women in The Artisan Group made this fun pintrest board for valentines gifts. I think I'll start there and see where I end up! You should check it out! Golden Globes Gift Lounge- Who Wore What! @JewelsForHopeCT

First off, I want to say Thank You to all of you special followers who have been with me on this journey through The Golden Globes Gift Lounge. It has been such a great experience for myself and my mother to be a part of something this big (and fun!)

Now, we have the good stuff to get to... WHO POSED WITH WHAT!

Yes, this is a big thing.... Huge thing! We are so excited, everyone who displayed a product at The Artisan Group's exhibit received at least 1 Celebrity Picture. What is really what we all hope and dream of. That one picture that will make your product stand out, look gorgeous..... to have a celebrity say yes to being photographed holding/wearing your item.

First... we'll start with our products! We were lucky enough to get 2 celebrity photos. My mom and I actually cried all morning because of this. This was our moment. We are so lucky- we can't stop smiling. My mother comes home from the hospital today (don't worry-she will be fine!!!) and she can't wait to see these pictures! She keeps calling me up to talk about them!

The 2012 Golden Globes Gift Lounge- Excitement!

This past weekend was the Golden Globes Gift Lounge!!!!

We had our main necklace on display and 100 Swarovski Crystal & Pearl Necklaces distributed in the SwagBags at the event!

The event was a big success and The Artisan Group got a ton of press coverage! I am so happy for us all.

I still don't know who took photos with our piece-- we find that out some time this week- AH! Can you tell I'm nervous? haha. Once I find out I will post the pics up here (ASAP).

The time is finally here! Our long journey into making 100 items for the Golden Globes Gift Lounge is here! Today and tomorrow is the GBK Gift Lounge for The 2012 Golden Globes Nominees & Presenters.

My mother and I can't sit still. We are across the country- but we still feel the excitement as if we were right there!

Our items will be featured in The Artisan Group's swag bags as well as on display in their exhibit! Here is our one of a kind specialty necklace on display- we created this piece in the same color-code as one of the causes we support, Breast Cancer Research.

All of our 100 items featured in the swag bags will be color coded to represent all of the amazing organizations we support. One below represents Hospice.

We are so thrilled to have our items in this Gift Lounge. This has been a dream come true for my mother and myself.

Now, for the big moment.... I have some great photos to share with you FROM THE EVENT! Yes, our amazing reps at The Artisan Group gave us some photo updates that I am dying to share with you!

TG Bears-- Gifted Cari Cucksey from HGTV's Cash & Cari!

You know how much I love Teddy Bears. TG Bears has the cutest bears!

If you have read my blog before, you must know about TG Bears already. But if not, I'll share some more :)

TG Bears was created by Monica. Monica makes all of the bears herself- she loves creating them!

"My bears have safety eyes, noses and joints and are washable, making them safe for children in their "bare" state. All accessories should be removed before giving them to children. Bears can have an optional growl placed in them (they are not washable when they can growl). For washing, place the "bare" bear in a pillow case and wash on the gentle cycle only. Do not tumble dry.

All bears are 16 inches tall. You will find the Classic Teddy Bear with his ribbon. There are colors to choose from. The Signature Collection are discerning bears that have ordered their custom neckwear from Tall Guys Ties. The neckties and scarves are handmade of 100% silk. The Specialty Bears vary. There are love-bears and patriots. Watch this category as you will find new bears added and some available for a limited time only."

Well, as you can tell from my title, TG Bears gifted a Special bear to Cari Cucksey from HGTV's Cash & Cari!

TG Bears closed 2011 with a third celebrity gift. This time Cari Cucksey, well known for her HGTV show Cash & Cari and also RePurpose.

Cari requested that I make her a green or blue bear. So, being that she is all about repurposed and thus also in keeping with the environment, who would do better to be honored with being gifted than our very own Earth Bear – who made his debut in celebration of Earth Day 2011.

TG Bears personalized Cari’s Earth Bear, and he proudly wears on her name on his right sole along with his golden heritage in his left. He is after all a TG Bear.

Along with gifting to Cari, another fun thing about TG Bears which I actually didn't know....

TG Bears does a "Person of the Month" feature. Nominations are accepted from the 1st to the 20th of every month. Oscars Gift Lounge Preparation- Part 2!

So, we have started packing finally! If you read my last post you would know I am a huge procrastinator and have been putting off packaging the 100 Bracelets for the 2012 Oscars Gift Lounge.

Well, we started!!!!!

I completed 51 packages. Woo! We still need to make close to 25 more bracelets. Then package the rest. And have them sent to California between Jan 15th and Feb 1st.

We have some work to do.

But for now, I want to show you our fun packing.

Now. We (my mother & myself) are very loud, fun people (or at least we like to think we are!). We got the biggest kick out of this packaging, and we hope it brings joy to everyone who gets one. Even if it makes only 1 person smile, then we will be happy with that.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Healthy Safe New Year! I hope everyone rings in the new year with happiness- and I hope all has great time tonight.

Myself, I'll be spending New Years Eve at my friend Carli's house (same thing as last year, shown below haha). Nothing wild and crazy- jut good friends, good food, and trying my hardest to stay up til midnight! Because, yes, I am old and cannot make it til midnight most nights. I better have a nap at some point today because I do love to see that ball drop.

Oscars Gift Lounge Preparation!

I'm running slow on this one folks....

We have a TON of bracelets done... just not the packaging yet. Need to work on that.

The Oscars Gift Lounge is in Feb. We need to have everything completed within the next month. I'm cutting it a bit close haha.

So for now, since I have no packaging to show you (yet..... but trust me - you'll want to check back and see it!) I will give you a little sneak preview of some of the bracelets going into the Swag Bags... and our Display Piece! So exciting!

Boston Tea Company Review and Giveaway!

I am a big tea drinker. I love the taste- My favorite tea being Green Tea. I know, a ton of people hate green tea. You really have to aquire a taste for it- but I absolutely LOVE it.

So when I got the opportunity to try out Boston Tea Company's tea, I was just thrilled! I love trying new teas an different flavors- so Boston Tea Company was nice enough to send me a few samples of tea to try out.

Peppermint Candy Cane Black Tea

Raspberry Green Tea

Minty Mint Green Tea

Blueberry White Tea

Bombay Chai Rooibos

Don't they just sound delicious! Just the combinations alone sound yummy.

Before I get into the reviews of the Tea- here is a little bit about Boston Tea Company!

Now. On to my favorites.

I normally am not a Blueberry person. Don't know why- I usually just stay clear of anything Blueberry flavored.

The Blueberry White tea was one of my favorite samples. The aroma first got me- it was so soothing and relaxed me instantly. It wasn't overpowering- it was just enough. Once I started drinking it I was instantly hooked. It is delicious.

With every sip you just get a hint of blueberry- which is so refreshing it keep you wanting more and more.

My other favorite out of the bunch was the Raspberry Green Tea.

YUM.

This tea has an even lighter aroma and taste of Raspberry then the Blueberry tea. I had this tea at night to relax me. It was perfect.

I would recommend the Raspberry Green Tea for someone who is JUST starting to get into drinking Green Tea- or already loves it. Great for both!

It has a nice flavor to it-- and when you are just starting to drink Green Tea, I feel a lot of people think it is too harsh. With the Raspberry incorporated in it makes it a little easier to handle. Personally- I love the taste of Green Tea with or without flavor- this Raspberry Green Tea really hit the spot for me.

The thing I love most about this tea is the way the teabags were made. I have never seen this and wish I could capture a picture of me doing this. I'll do my best to explain...

The string of the tea bag is inside the bag itself. You pull it out and voilla- ready to steep. I've only ever seen teabags where the string is wrapped around the outside. I thought this was so original- I loved it! Now, you may think I'm nuts and you always see this- but I never have so I thought it was fabulous!

Like a Chicken with My Head Cut Off!

I have been running around like a mad woman. I swear, I can't believe it is almost Christmas. I have been so focused on Jewels For Hope I feel it is all I am doing lately! I go to work, come home, and work on J4H.

I have missed writing so much. I feel so much better when I am blogging, and I haven't had a spare minute to do it. It saddens me, but I'm not complaining! I love Jewels For Hope and I'm so happy I have actually been busy! It's a definitely a good busy!

I hope everyone in the blogging world is happy and healthy and I hope you all are having a good December!

One of the reason's I have been super busy is because my mother is a nut job.

Yes, a nut job.

As most of you know, we are participating in the 2012 Golden Globes & 2012 Oscars Gift Lounges. We nee d to make 200 pieces, package, and ship them to be in these fabulous lounges.

It's a TON of work.

Well, the Golden Globes items have been sent out to The Artisan Group ready to go for the event.

The Oscars items--- MY MOTHER DECIDED TO CHANGE THE DESIGN.

Which is why I have been going crazy haha. We had 30 necklaces completed for the gift lounge- and then she decided to change it to bracelets.

Yes, I personally think the bracelets will go over much better-but now we have to start from scratch.

So- a good busy-yes, but still- veryyyy busy.

We'll get everything perfect though. We always do-we work well under pressure ..... well, my mother does. an then she calms me down- so it's okay.

I'll definitely do some more posting about the packaging (which you will CRACK UP AT) and our journey through this!

Big things have been happening with us over the past week or so! We have been so busy, it is a good kind of busy though- that kind of busy you love!

I know you are dying to figure out what we have been up to!

Well, on December 3^rd we partnered with Give Back Brands for an exclusive Someday by Justin Bieber event at Macy’s, sponsored by People Magazine.

YES.

All of those amazing, high profile names, in the same sentence as Jewels For Hope. Sounds pretty incredible, right? Well, IT WAS!

We had to make 150 necklaces for the event- in 10 days. Yes, 10 days- 150 necklaces. Which is why I haven’t been around much, since that’s all we did. I helped my mother make some of the necklaces, but once we had a substantial amount- I started packaging, while she was creating.

We designed a gorgeous Swarovski Crystal and Pearl Necklace- in silver and gold- with Justin’s birthstone and his favorite color included.

Everyone at Macy’s wanted the necklace! The employees were coming up asking if they needed the buy the perfume in order to get the necklace because THEY ONLY WANTED THE NECKLACE! That was the biggest compliment! We couldn’t believe it!

Another thing we couldn’t believe?

People Magazine sent out a special E-Invite to all of their readers…. And WE WERE INCLUDED! Take a look……

WE ARE FRAMING THIS!

We are so excited, and still can’t believe that we were mentioned by People Magazine. Even though this event was almost a week ago, I am still in shock that we did it. I know my mother feels the same way.

The best part about it all- we had SO much fun at the event! The event reps we met were THE SWEETEST people, so great to work with, so personable, and we all just had the best time. We were bopping along to Justin’s Holiday Album played by the Dj for the full event- we were talking to absolutely everyone, and got our name out there. Nothing could have made that day any better.

We are so grateful for this opportunity and I know this will stay in our hearts for many years to come. This was absolutely perfect; and my mother was such a hit at the event, I am so proud of her! Without her, I know I would have been a stumbling idiot and messing up my words and shaking from nerves! She calms me down (surprisingly) and keeps me relaxed—because she is just so loud and crazy that everyone focuses on her haha.

I was lucky enough to review one of the coolest items I have ever seen! I personally love any type of item that you can personalize. I take thousands of pictures every year and love a way to showcase them. Well... this product is absolutely perfect for that!

Golden Globes Gift Lounge Prep - Part 2

It has been forever since I have actually written a full on post about what's going on with us! I'm sorry! Please, amazing followers, forgive me. I just can't believe how busy I've been. I haven't had a chance to just relax.

Well, I will show you a little sneak peak of what's been going on here!

The last time I posted about the Golden Globes Gift Lounge, I left you wanting to know about the packaging (or at least that was my goal!). So- wonder no more! Here is it....

I have only done about 40 boxes so far. Out of 100. So I am not even halfway done. But I swear- these boxes take much longer then you think. I like everything to be just perfect. I mean, celebs are getting these. They have to be great!

I put the filler in the box, then our note card that has all our facts on it, put the necklace in a little clear/blue bag, put that in the box- then ribbon and sticker the box! Woo. That'a a lot of work for 100 boxes.

Here's our designs.... I am super proud of the way this looks I cant wait for celebs to see it!

Life's Messy Moments

Sometimes the messiest moments are the ones you will remember forever. I know for me that is sooo the truth!

Now, if you have been following my blog for awhile- you may have come to the conclusion I am a klutz. Yep, I admit it completely. I fall up the stairs, I trip over my own two feet, and sometimes topple over just while standing still. I'm fine with this and love to laugh at these moments.

Well- being such a clumsy person, I tend to have very messy moments. I would love to share one of them with you.....

I'll set the scene for ya. My best friend Paul's house. We were outside on his fabulous deck, playing cards, having a couple of cocktails. Now- I will say I was not at all drunk. I kinda wish I was because when you read the next part of this story you at least can say "oh, she was drunk". Nope. Only had maybe 1-2 drinks.... if that.

Here is Paul's deck. As you can tell from the angle, I was all the way up top and this photo is of my best friends Paul and Carli.

Please take notice of the bottom of the deck. And even though in the photo it looks bright- let me inform you that it is actually very dark out. No lights. This was just the lovely flash from my camera.

Paul warns me once I get to the bottom of the stairs "it's allllll mud. be careful".

My bright idea is to jump over the mud. Don't want to get my shoes dirty or anything. And when you hear "be careful for the mud" you don't really think mud is EVERYWHERE.

Well..... It was.

Yep. Instead of me jumping over the mud, I decide to jump right into it. Feet flying in the air and me landing on my back. In mud. and dog poo. Did I mention Paul has dogs and yes, I was partly covered in poo?

I will never forget this night. And I highly doubt Paul and Carli will either. Even though I was covered in crap (literally)- I have to say this was one of the best nights I have had. It was hysterical. Me and my best friends laughing uncontrollably over the fact that I was covered in dog crap and mud.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I know I haven't written many posts lately other then my sponsor spotlight posts. I have been so busy with the new job, Jewels for Hope, and most importantly- my Halloween costume.

Yes. My Halloween Costume.

I decided I am crazy. I am out of my mind nuts- and I am totally okay with that.

I love Halloween. I love dressing up, everyone having a good time, no one worrying about what they look like. I just love it.

Well, this year I couldn't afford a real costume--- even with the new job, I can't really pay my bills still since it's only part time... so spending any extra money isn't really an option. And as most of you know- Halloween costumes are EXPENSIVE.

$60 for an outfit I'll wear once? No thanks.

So I went the more creative route. I went to good will, bought a $5 jacket and got to work.

This took me roughly 15 hours to do. Yep... 15 HOURS. I'll go back to my original sentence of- I'm crazy.

Well, it was totally worth it. All the time spent, eyes gone blurry from bedazzling, glue stuck all over my hands and fingernails.... worth every minute.

I. AM. LADY. GAGA.

I individually glued each bead on. EACH. BEAD.

Seeing as how this entire costume (maybe) cost me $10- I think it kicks major ass.

I am one of those people who doesn't feel complete unless they are working on one project or another. It might be cooking or baking, gardening, knitting, felting, sewing, or teaching my daughters a new skill. My professional training is as an environmental educator, while my art is self taught. It is amazing how the two have blended so well together. I've always had a love of nature and the outdoor world, something which comes through in my work. Much of my inspiration comes while exploring outdoors and in the textures, shapes and colors I see around me.

I love the feel of natural fibers, and because much of my work is felted, wool is the focus. I love experimenting with new fibers and techniques. One of my favorite things is seeing how the yarn or fiber changes during the felting process. Rarely is it the same twice. The scientist in me relates to how the processes work. The artist relates to taking a raw material and creating something that is beautiful and unique.

Golden Globes Gift Lounge Prep

As some of you who have been reading my blog for some time now know, Jewels for Hope will be gifting 100 items in the Golden Globes Gift Lounge and 100 items in the Oscars Gift Lounge, both hosted by GBK Productions.

I haven't been blogging as much lately because we have been working so diligently on the items for the swag bags.

We wanted to make something classy and elegant. Nothing like our big chunky twisted wire pieces--- because we totally understand that those kind of items are not for everyone. But we figured, simple & classy can be worked into any outfit.

Here is 100 necklaces.

Yep. 100. We are so completely thrilled to be done with them! We poured our heart and soul into these pieces.

They are all different colors- representing each of the fabulous organizations we donate to.

These necklaces are all Swarovski Crystals and Pearls. swooon.

Today I actually started packaging some the items. I am so happy they look so good! We had looked long and hard for the perfect boxes, perfect ribbons, and perfect stickers for the boxes. Everything has to be just right- I mean, these are going to the celebs here. Can't use damaged goods!

We actually were so excited that we found out about this company that has ribbon-- they were only like an hour away!!!!! It's called May Arts!

This ribbon is absolutely perfecccct. Using it today I was so pleased that we purchased from this company. The ribbon has such a great feel to it- really high quality. I'm used to rummaging through the dollar bin at Michaels for my ribbon- so this was a treat to use such pretty sturdy ribbon!

Look how fun this design is! They are the same colors as our cards that are in the boxes- we love that turquoise./mocha combo. It looks so sharp! And hello? Double sided ribbon! Can't beat that. May Arts had so many designs to choose from- but this one definitely won in the end. We love this funky-fresh design!

I know you all are dying to see how some of the boxes came out. Unfortunately, I'm going to make you wait. *evil laugh*.

Job Update

So I know you all are just dying to hear about how my new job is working out for me.

IT. IS. AMAZING.

Yes, it is. I absolutely love it. I couldn't be happier.

It is a complete 180 from my last job. I don't have a phone! That is the best part! I don't have to worry about countless customers calling me up and making fun of my name. Saying I should be a man. Saying my parents must be disappointed. Asking me repeatedly to spell my name, because there is no way there is a woman named Stevie. NO MORE OF THAT!

I get to deal with surveys and social media! Um, hello? I love social media. That is what I'm doing for Jewels for Hope... so now to actually have a STEADY income doing what I love- amazing.

My bosses are great- they are so nice and easy going. They actually trust me and don't have to "monitor" me like at my previous job (I actually am very trustworthy- my last job monitored everyone lol so don't get the wrong impression).

It's so refreshing to actually like what you do. I am so happy I have this job. The hours are in the morning, so it still gives me plenty of time to work freelance for the deli still and to do everything for Jewels for Hope. WINNING <------ yes, I am embodying Mr. Sheen right now.

Lovable Labels Review & Giveaway!

I was lucky enough to be able to review Lovable Labels. Have you heard of them? They have the absolute cutest labels, ranging from clothing labels, to stationary labels, to bag tags (OH MY!).

Personally, I love labels (weird, right?). Well..I'm a bit weird... we know that.

I love them for my company. I label everything with our name and cute fun labels. I think it adds a bit of uniqueness to a standard box or envelope.

I was thrilled to be able to review these labels, the "Think Pink" Labels from Lovable Labels. They have a breast cancer awareness ribbon on the label. If purchased through Loveable Labels they will donate $0.50 of each order to Research and Cure for Breast Cancer.

I'm a workin woman now! As discussed in one of my recent posts... I finally got a job! Yes, it is part time for now- but hey.. a job is a job.

Now the only issue I have is.. WHAT TO WEAR!!!

I haven't been working since January and didn't have much "business attire" to wear to my previous job (that job was much more laid back- more of a "jeans and t-shirt" gig.)

What I love about working is what outfits I can wear. Really though, I love shopping for work outfits. Have you checked out the women's suits from Express ? I know I continuously talk about shopping (yes, I feed my addiction) but this is something that is actually useful and can help my career! Because we all know if you have nice clothes and look very "put together" that is always a positive for any business atmosphere.

Tresemme= Love

So... I have a huge mop of hair. It is more like "cousin it" hair. I have accepted it and embracing it. I normally have very curly, untamable hair. It gets in the way a lot and doesn't look that professional.

When I go on interviews, I like to straighten my hair so it looks a bit more sleek and put together-- rather then wild and horse-hair like. It takes me about 3+ hours to straighten my hair to make it actually look good. Crazy, right? So we know I am not going to wash my hair out the next day- after taking ALL OF THAT TIME to straighten it. Oh, no. That won't work.

I have used TRESemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo and I am in love. I have never used a dry shampoo before so this was my first time using one. It actually was amazing. I had used it 3 days after straightening my hair to see how it would react and how it would make it look.

My hair looked so much better. Before putting it in, it kinda looked like it was on the verge of being disgusting (yes, I'll totally admit it with no shame. C'mon ladies, you know where I'm coming from).

I had to shake the can a lot before using it. Then did it in sections- rather then all over like a cloud of mist is covering my head. I let it sit for a couple of minutes and then brushed it out. To see how to use it, click the link :)

Surprisingly, my hair looked "fresh". Really, that is the only way I can describe it. It didn't look dull and nasty anymore. I was able to get another 2 days of use out of it.

The only bad part about this shampoo is that it is great for all hair types--- which meant my sisters took it from me lol. They use it more then I do now. Their hair is less "horse-like" then mine. It is finer and their hair gets greasy much more quickly then mine does--- so they feel this dry shampoo is a godsend for them! Next time.. I'm hiding it.

Disappointing Craft Fair

So yesterday we had our craft fair. The craft fair I was really looking forward to.

BIG. FAIL.

We didn't even make our table.

I know craft fairs are always an up and down thing. All depends on the day, people, everything. Some years you do great, and some years you don't. This year was a not great year.

I think what upset me most was not even the fact that we didn't really make money. I think I was most upset with how rude the people were.

I understand that everyone has different opinions and not everyone likes everything. I know for sure I don't like everything I see at craft fairs. But I WOULD NEVER walk up to someones booth and scream "OH, I DO NOT LIKE THIS AT ALL" and then walk away.

Excuse me, but are you FREAKIN kidding me?

How rude are you? I was baffled!

Then other people would come up to our table, look at the sign I have on there (stating we will be in the Oscars & Golden Globe gift lounges)--- and then they would snicker and roll their eyes.

DO PEOPLE UNDERSTAND WE CAN SEE THEM?

I am standing right in front of them.

I would never do that to another vendor. I would never outright say something mean or hurtful. These people have a lot of freakin nerve in my opinion.

It really hurt to see people acting so rude and outright disrespectful. Even when this was not happening to me, but to other vendors, I felt disgusted. How can people be like this?

It was ridiculous. Is this something I am just being crazy over, or do you feel the same way to? Are you a crafter... has this ever happened to you? I would love to hear other people's thoughts on this.

Craft Fair Tomorrow!

So, tomorrow we have a HUGE craft fair that I am super excited about.

The Fine Arts Festival in Southbury. It is going to run from 10-4 and I am hoping for a great turnout! We were there last year and we did really well.

Last year though, I still had my gal bladder issues. I had just had surgery like 1-2 days before this fair- I felt like crap but didn't care, I was going to this fair whether it killed me lol.

I love going to these fairs and helping my mom out. I think it's fun (for the most part). It's nice to meet new people and try and sell our items.

So if you are in the area tomorrow, STOP BY! COME SAY HELLO! It should be a great day with good food, good crafts, and *hopefully* great weather!

I got a job!!!

You are now looking (well, not technically, but you get it) at an employed woman!

Yes, you read that correctly... I am officially employed!

*sigh of relief*

I have been on countless interviews... some good and some bad... and this job was one of the good ones! I had the interview earlier this week, and ever since all I have been saying to everyone who will listen is... "I WANT THIS JOB!" The people there were so. incredibly. nice.

It was refreshing to actually meet very nice people and not be ~~scared to death~~ uncomfortable with the interview.

I start on Monday. It's a part time position for now- but that is actually perfect for me... I get a steady income, work a couple of hours... and then I get time to work on jewelry and get ready for the GBK Gift Lounges for the Golden Globes & Oscars. WIN/WIN.

What is the job for, you ask?

A marketing assistant. Yes. Amazing. Finally getting some experience in the field I graduated from. I am excited to finally go back to work. and the best part?

I can now pay my bills. Well.... some of them. That's a start right?

Besides, when Jewels for Hope becomes rich and famous.. (yes, I'm saying "when" because it WILL happen <3)I won't have to worry about paying my bills or deferring my student loans (yet again..... *cough*).

So I hope you all put good, positive thoughts out into the universe for me on Monday morning. Hmmm... now... the big issue. What to wear?

Glitzy Cheer Bows

I am someone who is not afraid to ask someone for help/advice/anything. I am not ashamed or embarrassed. But we all know, sometimes when asking for help, it doesn't always go over well.

Over the years while being a crafter I have noticed that not everyone in the "crafting" community is so willing to share their knowledge. I know I am willing to share anything with anyone- even if I don't know the right thing, I will do my best to help.

Well, I had emailed Jeanne from Glitzy Cheer Bows asking for advice. She is one of the good ones folks.

She started Glitzy Cheer Bows only about a year ago and she has been doing amazingly!! She originally started by making bows or wreaths outside, and then someone saw them and asked for a cheerleading bow-- and everything just started tumbling from there! (get it- tumbling--- cheerleading. Oh, I'm good. haha)

Jeanne has made bows for TONS of school sports teams and has been sending her bows all across the world! How cool is that? One of my favorite bows she has is zebra print (obviously).

Isn't that adorable?

She does Soccer Bows, Softball Bows, Holiday Bows... ALL THESE BOWS!

So if your daughter is on any team in need of some Glitz.... contact Jeanne. She is so sweet and was helping me out in any way she can. She gave me some advice and was just so sweet. Not a lot of people are these days... and it really touched my heart that she was so willing to help. I was actually asking her about getting products to these cheerleading teams since I am trying to get my aunt's scarves into teams. So we'll see how that works out......fingers and toes crossed for me please.

So, I redid our website... again.

I just want to be completely happy with it. I want to have a professional looking website- even though I am surely not a professional in designing websites.

So I did this best I could. I am really trying here. So let me know your opinions- anything to make it better or if you want to give me praise, anything lol. Just be gentle.

Also, if you are looking at the website with 100% page view- you are good. If it is anything less than that, then everything is not lined up perfectly. I cannot FOR THE LIFE OF ME figure out how to do that. So I'm sorry. No matter what I try, I cannot get it lined up on 75%.

Jewels For Hope Photoshoot Featured on Wedding Chicks!

A couple months back we were working with some amazing vendors for a photoshoot they were doing in New York. We were thrilled to be asked to participate in this and today I get to share these amazing photos with you!

Kristen Cusato & Ann Nyberg, Wearing Jewels for Hope!

We have had a busy couple of weeks here folks! We have been doing craft fairs and working on the designs for The Oscars & The Golden Globes!

Well, along with all of this, we actually had an interview with Ann Nyberg from WTNH News Channel 8 and Network Connecticut!

She interviewed us for her website. It was amazing! She is so incredibly nice! Seriously, such a sweetheart! She even bought a necklace and wore it on the 6:00 news last Thursday! AH!

Along with talking with Ann, another WTNH newscaster, Kristen Cusato, has been in touch with us and we are donating an item for raffle at her event coming up this Thursday for The Walk for Alzheimer's. Kristen, so graciously, took a photo with the necklace we will be donating. Take a look!

I've been MIA

All my amazing followers, I am sorry I have been a bit MIA. I have had SO much going on with Jewels for Hope and getting everything ready for the Oscars/Golden Globes. Along with that, we have been doing tons of fairs. Insane.

And right now, I am about to head to an actual job interview. YES! Wish me luck. I need a job, asap.

Once I get home I'll show you the fabulous Ann Nyberg wearing one of our pieces! She interviewed us last week and put it up on her website. She also wore one of our pieces on the 6:00 News Thursday Night! YAY!
